Fall Pear Salad

This salad tastes great and it’s the perfect thing for fall!

Fall Pear Salad

Ingredients 

1 small shallot, finely diced

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar

1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil

2 teaspoons maple syrup

salt and freshly ground black pepper

1 head of lettuce

1 red pear, sliced

Directions

Make the dressing by combining the chopped shallot, Dijon and balsamic vinegar in a large mixing bowl. Slowly drizzle in the olive oil while you whisk to emulsify. Add the maple syrup and season with salt and pepper. Assemble salad by tossing lettuce leaves and pear slices in a large mixing bowl with maple-balsamic dressing.

Halloween Pattern Cupcakes

Happy Halloween Everyone! For the last day of our 13 Days of Halloween Tricks & Treats we bring to you a super simple Halloween Cupcake Pattern that uses Reese’s Pieces to make a pumpkin shape.

Halloween Pattern Cupcakes

Ingredients

Cupcakes

1 Can White Frosting

1 Pack Reese’s Pieces

Directions

Bake cupcakes as directed on box and let cool.

Cover the cupcakes with the white frosting and allow them to sit for 15 minutes before decorating.

Place two marshmallows on top of each cupcake pressing gently.  Place two fruit snacks into each marshmallow to form the eyes, using frosting to stick them on.  Place a fruit snack on the cupcake to form the nose.  Place two or three pieces of licorice on the side to

Place a row of 3 orange Reese’s Pieces at the bottom of the cupcake followed by  a row of 4 and another row of 3 Reese’s Pieces.  Place 2 brown Reese’s Pieces up top to make  the steam.

Another use for your unused cupcakes cups, perfect for a last minute halloween decoration.

Ingredients

1 pack pleated paper cupcake cups

1 black permanent marker

Directions

Turn the cups upside down and use the black marker to make a pair of eyes for each one.

Halloween Grilled Cheese

A great lunch idea to keep you in the Halloween spirit.

Halloween Grilled Cheese

Ingredients

Knife

4 slices of sandwich bread

2 tablespoons butter

2 slices of Cheddar Cheese

Directions

Take two slices of bread and cut out shapes using the knife to make jack-o-lantern faces.  Preheat skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Butter all four slices of bread.  Take the buttered, shaped slices and grill until browned how you like it.  Place the unshaped pieces butter side down and add a slice of cheese on top of each slice. Place shaped slice on top, unbuttered side down.  Grill until cheese is melted.  Serve immediately.

Ingredients

1 Can Chocolate Frosting

1 Pack Marshmallows

1 box Fruit Snacks (we used Market Pantry from Target)

1 pack black licorice laces, 14 pieces cut into 1/2-inches (makes 3 cupcakes)

Directions

Bake cupcakes as directed on box and let cool.

Cover the cupcakes with the chocolate frosting and allow them to sit for 15 minutes before decorating.

Place two marshmallows on top of each cupcake pressing gently.  Place two fruit snacks into each marshmallow to form the eyes, using frosting to stick them on.  Place a fruit snack on the cupcake to form the nose.  Place two or three pieces of licorice on the side to form the arms.

Vampire Punch

Quench your thirst with some Vampire Punch, great for your Halloween party!

Vampire Punch

Ingredients

1 cup hot water

1 cup cold water

1 pack cherry flavored gelatin

1 bottle cold lemon lime soda or ginger ale

Directions

Follow directions on gelatin package. Cover and chill 4 hours or overnight. To serve, pour about 1 cup of soda or ginger ale into a glass. Break up gelatin and add a few spoonfuls to the cup.  Stir together just before drinking.
