Shark Week Cupcakes

Something Sweet

Take a bite out of our new dish, inspired by Discovery Channel’s Shark Week. They are some pretty scrumptious cupcakes!

Shark Week Cupcakes

Ingredients

-cupcakes

1 box cupcake mix (we used Pillsbury Moist Supreme Devil’s Food)

3 eggs

½ cup vegetable oil

1 ¼ cup water

1 pack cupcake tins

 -cupcake decorations

1 can of white frosting – 4 tablespoons covers 5 cupcakes (we used Betty Crocker whipped Fluffy White)

1 tube blue gel food coloring – 4 drops to mix with frosting to cover 5 cupcakes (we used Betty Crocker Classic Gel Food Colors)

1 box ginger snap cookies – about 4 cookies (we used Market Pantry Ginger Snaps from Target)

1 package assorted Swedish Fish – 4 swedish fish

Directions

Bake cupcakes as directed on box and let cool.

Gradually mix 4 tablespoons of white frosting with 4 drops of blue gel food coloring in a small bowl (add more gel if you want a darker blue)

Cover the cupcakes with the blue frosting and allow them to sit for 15 minutes before decorating. (this amount should cover 5-6 cupcakes)

Take a ginger snap cookie breaking it in half then take each half and break them in half again (you may need to do this with a few different cookies to get a shape you want to use) Take the quarter of the cookie and stand it up in the icing so it looks like a sharks fin swimming in water.  For the Swedish Fish cupcakes take the fish and arrange two of them side by side on top of the icing like they’re running from the shark.

Chomp chomp! Have you caught any of Shark Week yet? Our favorites are always the survivor’s stories. Makes you want to stay out of the water!
